From Engineer to Executive Communication Coach
Before becoming an executive communication coach, I was an engineer. Like many of my clients, I cared far more about solving problems than talking about them. I joinedToastmasters for an unexpected reason—so my homeschooled teenage son could participate. I never imagined it would change the course of my career.
I still remember my first speech. I looked confident, but behind the lectern my knees were shaking, and I even blanked out for part of the presentation. Over time, I learned that effective communication isn’t about knowing more or saying more. It’s about organizing your ideas, understanding your audience, and delivering your message with clarity and confidence.
That realization changed the way I communicate—and today it’s the foundation of the way coach. Since then, I’ve spoken professionally around the world, written more than a dozen books on communication (includingThe Clarity Code, and coached leaders and experts in engineering, finance, healthcare, technology, and many other fields.
