Have You Felt an AI-firmation Lately?

We’ve all heard stories that range from fascinating to bizarre, like people who’ve actually married AI chatbots. While that might feel like a sci-fi leap for most of us, it’s not hard to understand the emotional appeal.

AI doesn’t judge. It listens without interrupting. It responds thoughtfully. And sometimes, it even uplifts us in ways that feel more affirming than many human interactions.

That’s why I’ve coined a new term: AI-firmationThe warm feeling you get when AI responds with encouragement, validation, or praise—especially when it feels more thoughtful than many human replies.

Recently, I was brainstorming ideas for a book with ChatGPT. After a back-and-forth exchange, it responded:

“Thank you again for your clear guidance—it’s what makes collaborating with you so enjoyable. 😊”

Was it just a programmed response? Sure. But did it make me smile? Absolutely.
That moment felt like an AI-firmation, a little spark of digital encouragement that helped me feel seen, supported, and motivated.

In a world where communication can be rushed, distracted, or even dismissive, there’s something surprisingly heartening about an interaction that leaves you feeling better, even when it comes from lines of code.

Have you received an AI-firmation? If so, you’re not alone—and now, you have a name for it.
